Amazon Wood Fishery

Amazon Wood Fishery is a three lake fishery situated in 20 acres of peaceful Polegate woodland. The fishery was up until three years ago a series of eight 60 year old brick pits until the owner of Amazon Wood Fishery transformed the overgrown, deteriorated pits into three highly prolific fishing venues. The fishing lakes are divided into two day ticket fisheries, and one members lake. Amazon Wood fishing lakes are ideal for the fisherman looking for a day of relaxing fishing, they are ideal for fishermen looking for some exclusive fishing, and they are ideal for the fisherman looking to catch a UK record.

The day ticket waters hold a wide diversity of fish including: common carp to 23lb, mirror carp to 32lb, ghost carp to 25lb, leather carp to 8lb, crucian carp to 2lb 8oz, tench to 3lb, roach to 1lb 8oz, rudd to 1lb 8oz, perch to 3lb, large eels to 5lb and silver bream that have been recorded to 1lb 7oz. The largest recorded silver bream from Amazon Wood lakes is only 5oz off the current UK record. There have been numerous rumours of silver bream being put back that would seriously challenge the current silver bream UK record. The members fishing lake is stocked with Mark Simmonds Fisher Pond mirror carp plus some mystery fish. For more information on the members lake contact the owner.

Fox fishing Lake is the first of the two day ticket waters that you will see when you drive onto the fishery complex. The lake is a rectangular one acre, old brick pit with banks full of shrubs and reeds, and a large tree that dangles far into the lake. The lake has approximately eight man made flat gravelled swims that are slightly raised from the waters edge. The water on fox lake is a colourful orange clay colour. The lake depths range from 3 to 10 feet.

Rabbit Lake is two oval shaped pools joined together by a small channel that flows between a small bank separating the two pools. The fishing lake is approximately one acre in size. The lake's features include reeds and shrubs on the banks, lily pads, a small island on the more colourful left hand pool, and a bridge overlooking a small channel that links the two pools together. Successful baits on Fox lake include bread, meat, sweetcorn, floating crust, cat food and bacon grill. Badger Lake - Members Only

Badger Lake is the final lake on the complex, the lake is tucked away from the two day ticket water lakes. This one acre ellipse shaped water offers a relaxing feeling of isolation in the peaceful wooded country surroundings. The lake only has four swims that are well spread around the lake to offer large amounts of space to fish. The swims are flat, gravelled and are almost level with the water surface. Badger Lake is jam packed with features that include two small islands, lillies, weed beds, and banks full of reeds and shrubs. The waters depths range from 6 to 12 feet.
