Broomham Large Pond

Broomham's bottom pond is a picturess 3 acre water that is situated in the small countryside village of Catsfield. The bottom pond holds most of the larger fish including the majority of the larger carp and tench. The water has the odd large patch of lillies and a large number of overhanging trees on the banks opposite the swims. There are approximately 15 fishable swims that are located on the flat grassy swims. Broomham pond has depths of upto 6-8 feet in the centre of the pond with shallower depths of 3-4 feet at the margins. Baits the fish respond well to include maggots, sweetcorn, bread, luncheon meat, cheese and boilies.

The bottom pond is the more productive water of the two that contains the larger fish. There are some good sized perch that can found lurking in the margins and hiding in the lilly pads waiting to ambush their prey. The carp on Broomham's bottom pond can be taken by ledgering boilies or luncheon meat underneath the overhanging trees on the far side of the water. They can also be taken by surface feeding bread in the hot summer months. The tench can be taken in the deeper regions of the pond by ledgering luncheon meat, sweetcorn, maggots and cheese.




Broomham Small Pond

The top pond of Broomham is a tiny, peaceful little 1/4 acre water that is surrounded by overhanging bushes and trees. There are approximately 3 grass banked swims which peer out between the bushes and reeds that may be quite awkward to fish for the novice fisherman. The deepest regions of the pond stretch to approximately four feet deep while the edges are no more than two or three feet deep. Successful baits on the top pond include maggots and casters for the small match fish and bread for the carp.

Broomhams top pond contains a large number of small silver fish that are extremely easy to catch, with a few larger match fish scattered in between that can be caught on maggots and casters. The pond also holds a couple of carp that enjoy cruising the surface in the hot summer months. The carp can be taken by surface feeding bread or dog biscuits.
