Buckshole Reservoir

Buckshole is a large 8 acre water with depths of 20-30ft in the middle. The reservoir is oval shaped with trees, over hanging bushes and a water inlet at one end and a water tower and dam at the opposite end. There is a no fishing policy on the reservoir banks of the tree end. The banks are generally steep grassy slopes which certainly would not be ideal for disabled anglers. Buckshole Reservoir on a good day could hold approximately 30-40 anglers. Successful baits include boilies for the large carp, maggots and casters for the match fish and sprats or lures for the pike.

The most common technique used by the carp angler is to ledger boilies underneath the trees at the tree end of the reservoir. The reservoir is also popular amongst father and sons due to large numbers of small match fish, the lack of snaggs and the relaxing park atmosphere. The reservoir also attracts the odd pike fisherman in the winter months who try to out fox the large pike looming in the depths. Successful techniques include ledgering deadbaits such as sprats and herring, and using lures and plugs. The water is ideal for using spinners, lures and plugs due to vast amounts of water and the cleanliness of the water.

"I fished buckshole for 3 days and didn't get even a sniff, I think I must be doing something wrong, I read about monster carp being caught from this water all the time."
