This charming trout fishery dates back to medieval times and covers an area of around 4 1/2 acres. The ground was originally dug out to power a mill which bored the cannons of the British fleet. The mill was later used to run a grain mill that still stands today, the mill is situated next door to the trout fishery at Boringwheel Mill Farm and is currently being restored to get it back and running to its former glory.
This trout fishery was previously known as Boringwheel Trout Fishery, the lake is regularly stocked for hard fighting trout.
Anglers can fish from 8 different platforms based around the island or if you are feeling adventurous you can fish from one of Ashdown Forest fly fisheries flat bottomed boats which are available free of charge. If using the available flat bottomed boats it is advised by Ashdown Forest Fly Fishery to bring your own life jackets, please contact Ashdown Forest Fly fishery for safety advice and rules, the fishery can be contacted at the following email: tony@flyfishingsussex.co.uk
