Lake John Fishery

Lake John Fishery is made up of two fishing lakes set in the peaceful Epping Forest by the market town of Waltham Abbey, Essex. The top lake is 2.5 acres in size and holds a mix of fish including some good specimen Carp to 46lb, Bream, Tench, Perch, Roach and Rudd.

The Angling Times quoted the fishery as "premier silver fish venue in the south of England".

The lakes were established in 1992 by John Shinkins whose dream it was to own his own fishing lakes. John built the lakes from scratch, and a week after stocking them he unfortunately died in a boating accident and never had the chance to fish the lakes. All John's hard work was not in vain as Colin Bartlett took over the lakes which have become popular with anglers. John's memory lives on through the lakes name.
