Club water run byHassocks & District Angling Society

The Adur river is a fast flowing river located in mid Sussex which stretches from West to East Sussex. The mouth of the river Adur at Shoreham Estuary is tidal. The river Adur holds the usual fish species and is popular with anglers for its pike fishing and holds some sea trout at the mouth of the river. A number of fishing clubs have access to the water.
Over the years the river has narrowed due to silt deposits but once was wide enough for large sea fairing ships to navigate as far as Steyning which once had a port. Since Roman times the river has been a popular trading route.
Due to the waters mud flats at low tide the water has numerous bird life from Redshank, Waders, Lapwing, Cormorants...
River banks at the Adur are steep in places, the water can also be up to 2 meters deep in places especially after heavy rain.
