Broomham Ponds (Club Only)

Broomham Ponds, also referred to as Broomham Lakes, consists of two waters together covering around 1 acre. Broomham Ponds is a picturesque water that is situated in the small countryside village of Catsfield on the Normanhurst Estate. The water and surroundings support a lot of wildlife. Broomham lacks in size but makes up in sizable quality of coarse fish. The top pond holds a number of small roach and a few carp. The bottom lake is the main water holding a large amount of tench to around 5lb+, roach and rudd to about 1lb, and carp to 17lb. The lakes have also been stocked with true crucian carp.

The water is controlled by Hastings and Bexhill Fishing Club and is for members only.

Broomham bottom pond is a picturesque 3/4 acre lake. The bottom pond holds most of the larger fish including the majority of the larger carp and tench. The water has the odd large patch of lillies and a large number of overhanging trees on the banks opposite the swims. There are approximately 8 fishable swims that are located on the flat grassy swims. Broomham pond has depths of upto 6-8 feet in the centre of the pond with shallower depths of 3-4 feet at the margins. Baits the fish respond well to include maggots, sweetcorn, bread, luncheon meat, cheese and boilies.

Broomhams top pond contains a large number of small silver fish that are extremely easy to catch, with a few larger match fish scattered in between that can be caught on maggots and casters. The pond also holds a couple of carp that enjoy cruising the surface in the hot summer months. The carp can be taken by surface feeding bread.

Directions

Take the B2095/B2204 into Catsfield. The ponds can be found by parking in the village and walking along the dirt track next to the village shop for about 700 metres. For further instructions contact Hastings and Bexhill Fishing Club.

"Having fished this peaceful fishery, I found tench and carp had a taste for luncheon meat and sweet corn. The larger bottom pond at Broomham holds the better fish. Swims are limited. A pretty water."
