Ardleigh Reservoir
Located in the village of Ardleigh near Colchester is a large 120 acre reservoir that holds some good size common and mirror carp to over 40lb, pike to over 25lb and a mix of match fish species. Ardleigh reservoir was opened in 1971 and supplies water to the north Essex area.
Along with the main 120 acre reservoir are two further fishing lakes positioned either end of the main reservoir and includes Wick Lane Lake that is 12 acres in size and holds the same wide variety of fish species as the main reservoir with some good size carp to over 30lb. The second lake is Ramada Lake which is 3 acres in size, well stocked with match fish including a number of bream and is ideal for anglers new to fishing as you are almost guaranteed to catch a fish.
Fishing boats are also available to hire for those harder to reach fishing spots. There is a thriving sailing club that use the reservoir. For more information please visit www.ardleighsc.com/.
