Fennes Coarse Fishery
Fennes Fishery is made up of 3 well maintained spring fed lakes providing nearly 15 acres of water to fish. Built in 1993 on former water meadows near Braintree, Essex, the lakes hold some good sized carp up to 33lb along with Tench, Bream, Roach, Rudd, Perch, F1s and Crucian Carp.
The three lakes are: Ash Ground Lake (5.8 acres with 24 pegs), Hobbs Croft Lake (3.5 acres with 20 pegs - ideal for families and accessible for disabled anglers), and Hill & Black Lake (6 acres converted from a farm irrigation reservoir). All waters are within walking distance of each other and feature islands, gravel bars and varied depths.
The fishery runs an onsite tackle shop stocked with fresh and frozen bait, fishing equipment and line tackle. Bank sides and platform pegs are well maintained, with toilets available. A refreshments van opens on spring and summer weekends.

Ash Ground Lake offers both single and double swim bookings available for day and night fishing.
Hill & Black Lake has single swims only for day and night fishing.
Hobbs Croft Lake is day ticket only (no pre-booking available) - call ahead to check for matches.
Online booking available for Ash Ground and Hill & Black lakes. Visit the fishery website to book a swim.

Fishing Lakes
3 fishing lakes spread over nearly 15 acres with over 100 swims in total. All waters are within walking distance of each other.
Ash Ground Lake: 5.8 acres with 24 pegs and over 1000 yards of well maintained bank. Several attractive islands within easy casting distance. Features include gravel bars, undulating bed with deeper pockets to 10ft. Margins have aquatic vegetation including reed mace, bull rushes and water lilies. Stocked with Common Carp and Mirror Carp to 33lb+.
Hobbs Croft Lake: 3.5 acres with 20 pegs. Offers both open water and fishing close to islands and features. Larger grass area ideal for visiting families. Holds smaller Common Carp and Mirror Carp, Roach, Rudd, Perch, Bream, Tench, F1s and Crucian Carp.
Hill & Black Lake: 6 acres converted from a farm irrigation reservoir with extensive landscaping and features. Depths range from 4ft to 8ft with numerous sub surface features including clear gravel patches, silt gulleys and large weed beds. Holds large Common Carp and Mirror Carp, Roach, Rudd, Perch, Bream, Tench, F1s and Crucian Carp.
