"great place to go for a days fun"

"I went 20/5 by myself on a bright warm sunny day and received a warm welcome from Dorjee the grounds manager. He explained what the set up was there, what tactics to use and importantly what flies to use too. Was shown the facities, nice set up compared to some other places I have visited. It was a midweek day so I was armed with my own refreshments but did have tea provided in the seating area next to the shop.
All 3 lakes were fished and I did half my bag of 4 by mid morning then it went dead, tons of fish visible but not playing as it was warm and sunny. My friend asked how it was fishing and I convinced him to come from London for the afternoon there. He pulled out 2 pigs by late afternoon, I hit my bag too and decided to get another 2 fish tickets as I was on a roll! 2 more brutes came out by 1800 closing time!
As the place wasn't too busy it was great and I was happy to meet Bob the owner who was a nice chap asking how my day went etc etc. So a great day had!

One week later 30/5 and we were a group of 4. On booking Dorjee, said it was already booked up with people and I should have taken his advice! It was busy, some hotspots were taken but there's 3 lakes to choose but lake 2 is most popular.
I caught 1 first cast at 0800, my friends all got 2 by 0900 but it was busy and fish were coming out left right and centre. Then it went stale, sun and warmth kept the fish at bay but the odd fish here and there came out. It livened up later, I was 2 fish short of my bag, lost 8!! I mean hooked on, played them and off not just nibbles, 3 times tippet bitten through! I always have a chat with any friendly anglers to see how their day went and all were happy and please as I was and so was my group!

A great day again! Looking forward to my next visit.... next week but on a weekday.

In view of the exchange of smoked trout, they didn't have any so I paid for 2 fish from first visit and collected those, had to pay £8 per fish, no big deal.

Also stocking is spot on and the lakes are refilled with fish as we watched, as we had a look around and shown the holding ponds.

I liked the place and we all agreed it was great place to go for a days fun".

"Disapointed"

"I went here a few weeks ago and to say that it was dissappointing is an understatement. I booked in and ordered breakfast for my son and I on line, my son was looking forward to having a pint at lunchtime as he wasn't driving. I told them that we expected to be there between 8.15 and 8.30, traffic conditions allowing. On arrival I was amazed to be told that not only weren't we booked in but that we could not have breakfast or lunch as they only did food at weekends now. We couldn't even get a decent cup of coffee. Luckily my wife had packed us a few sandwiches and a slice of cake each, otherwise we would have had nothing to eat all day.
There was lots of line hanging up in the bushes around the fishery with an unfortunate pigeon that had got entangled hanging from some of it . One of the fish that I caught had no tail, when I reported this ,saying that it had been a long time since I had caught a fish like this, I was told that I was lucky to have caught such a rarity. To cap it all off I , asked to swap two of my fish for a side of smoked trout but was told that they hadn't got any as they don't have time to do it any more.
I didn't ask for anything that wasn't advertised and bigged up on their website. They found my e mail whilst I was there, unopened, even though it had been sent a fortnight previously.
Would I go back? I doubt it.".
