River Eden

The River Eden is a tributary of the River Medaway. River Eden runs from the edge of Surrey through Kent to where it flows into the River Medway at Penshurst. Some of the more popular fish species include Eels, Pike, Carp, Roach, Rudd, Perch and Chub. Sizes of fish vary, as with all rivers they are a bit of an unknown. The river is fairly narrow in size.

The Kent wildlife trust has begun 'Return to Eden' project in 2012, which is designed to set about improving the wildlife and habitats along the river, improving water quality and bringing more wildlife to the river and surrounding area. Improvements include aquatic vegetation and fish spawning; removal of obstructions to migratory fish, creation of otter habitats and holts; scrub clearing and wildflower seeding; wetland, pond and scrape creation and enhancement.

Wildlife in the area includes a small number of otters and water voles, shrews, mice, voles, bats. Eden Valley is also home to some stunning birdlife with kestrels, owls, swallows, wrens to name afew.
