Copthorne & District Angling Society

Copthorne Angling Club have been running a small friendly fishing club for over 85 years. Club members recieve access to 6 fishing lakes and a number of stretches of the River Ouse. Copthorne Angling Club offer quiet and secluded angling on a range of picturesque venues based in and around Copthorne.

Little Rowfant Little Rowfant Lakes

Little Rowfant is a venue made up of 3 fishing lakes (Wilderness, Top lake and Road lake). The Wilderness is the more popular of the 3 lakes as it holds a number of carp with an average weight of around 6lb and the odd few over 20lb.

Piltdown Pond - Piltdown Piltdown Pond

Piltdown pond is a large 4 acre picturess pond located about two miles north-west of Uckfield. Piltdown pond is no longer controled by the local Piltdown Golf Club. The water is now in the control of Copthorne & District Angling Society (C&DAS). There is a transition period until 1st July 2005 where anglers may still enjoy fishing on the basis they have been, beyond the 1st July 2005 anglers must either purchase a Piltdown Pond Permit (PPP) or join Copthorne & District Angling Society (C&DAS). The water holds some large carp to 31lb, tench to 7lb+, bream to 6lb, roach, rudd, perch to 3lb, eels to 5lb 8oz and some large pike which are rumoured to reach 28lb.

Rowfant MillRowfant Mill

Rowfant Mill is the largest of Copthorne's Angling Club waters at around 7 acres in size. It’s long and narrow, with tree-fringed banks, and vast beds of lilies. It is a typical Sussex millpond with lots of silt, and depths of 4 to 6 feet. It is a mixed fishery containing the usual species: bream, carp, perch, pike, and tench. The bream and tench have been caught up to around 6lb, pike to mid doubles, and carp occasionally touch the 20lb mark.
