"Managed just 3 hours in the afternoon of Mon 10th August 2020. (Yesterday) Beautiful hot sunny day. Fishery is easy to find, right next to Arundel train station! I fished 'Carp Lake'. The fishery is picturesque, which was a pleasant change from a few other small commercial ponds i have seen! Some look like mining sites rather than fisheries!
Easy to see lots of nice sized carp as the water level was low. After some very welcome advice from Chris the 'Masked Marauder' baliff, (he used to be a wrestler back in the 70s! :) ), I managed to catch 2 carp on float fished sweet corn. Carp weighed 4 lb and 5lb respectively. I also missed half a dozen other bites and was snapped off on a blazing run by a bigger fish. These carp are apparently a German breed, (Dinkelsbuehl or 'Dinks' for short ). They are EXTREMELY fast and strong, I have never experienced anything like it from fish weighing just 5 lbs and i have been fishing on and off for 46 years, mainly river fishing for Barbel. Chris doesn't allow boilies or floating baits etc so the fish cannot become fat and lazy!
I thoroughly enjoyed my short visit and will return. Many thanks once again to the Masked Marauder! He may be 77 now but i doubt that any sensible angler would upset him once they know what his old career was! :D
Great afternoon and good holiday value for just £10 per day. :)".
